“Small acts when multiplied by millions of people, can transform the world!”
Greetings Members of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc., Family and Friends of the Southern Region,
It is my pleasure as the Southern Regional Director, to welcome each of you welcome to our Regional website. This interactive site provides you information on the many exciting things happening within the region. We invite you to spend time getting to know the phenomenal leaders of our illustrious sorority as well as learn about our impactful community-based programs and events.
The Southern Region was formed in 1926 at the 8th National Convention of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. Tuskegee Institute (now Tuskegee University), Fisk University and Clark College (now Clark Atlanta University) were the first chapters within the Southern Region. Now there are more than 208 alumnae and collegiate chapters who faithfully serve their communities. We also have the distinction of being THE largest of the seven regions of the sorority with more than 14,000 members. The Southern Region includes Alabama, the Bahamas, Florida, Georgia, Mississippi and Tennessee.
Members of the Southern Region are dedicated to Advancing the Sisterhood through three objectives:
- Empowering our members and chapters to actively serve our communities
- Embracing the collegiate and alumnae members; and
- Engaging everyone in our effort to advance the region and our sisterhood
To learn more about the Sorority’s Five Point Programmatic Thrust, visit the National website http://www.deltasigmatheta.org/programs_main.html. Be sure to follow us on Facebook and Twitter, as we Advance the Region with your support!
